John Hennigan Goes Wire-To-Wire to Capture PGT Mixed Games Event #2: $5,100 8-Game Title

John Hennigan went wire to wire as he put on a dominant display at the final table to capture his second career PGT Title and, with it, the $120,150 first-place prize in Event #2: $5,100 8-Game. 

The final table began with Christopher Claassen getting his short stack into the middle on the last hand of Pot-Limit Omaha with kings on the button only to run squarely into the pocket aces of Max Hoffman in the small blind. Claassen had outs to a heart flush, but when the flop fell a rainbow board, he was out the door in sixth place for $22,250. 

Hoffman's early run good would not last as he would hand Adam Friedman a double during a 2-7 Triple Draw and would eventually get the last of his chips into the middle from the small blind with against Ken Aldridge with during Omaha Hi-Lo. 

Aldridge would flop top pair and a lo draw, leaving Hoffman drawing slim. He turned a straight draw, but when the river bricked, he was out the door in fifth place for $31,150.

Nick Guagenti was the next to fall as he dwindled under Hennigan's onslaught, eventually getting his last 525,000 into the middle from the big blind with in PLO. Friedman called on the button with leaving Guagenti in rough shape as he had the higher pair and covered his hearts. 

The board ran out king-high, Guagenti was out the door in fourth place for $40,050, and even with the elimination to raise his stack to just shy of three million chips, Friedman still trailed Hennigan by a three-to-one margin for the chip lead. 

Ken Aldridge started the day as the definitive short stack with just 600,000, but after scoring two doubles and a triple up made it to three-handed play with over two million chips. Aldridge would score three more doubles during three-handed play, but the former teacher never moved above four million chips as Hennigan collected pot after pot. 

Aldridge's run would finally come to an end when he got it in with sixes in stud on fifth street, only for Hennigan to have him outpipped with sevens. Aldridge had two chances to make two pair on sixth and seventh street but could not find an improvement, ending his day with a trip to the payout desk for $55,625 and the third-place finish. 

Hennigan would start heads-up play with a nine-to-one chip lead and finished the tournament off on the second hand of the match when his split fours ran down Freidman's buried kings in stud. 

All the money got in on third street, and Friedman stayed ahead after the first two cards came off the deck, but a four on sixth street gave Hennigan trips and left Friedman drawing to a straight or a flush to stay alive. Friedman would fail to content his draws on seventh and headed to the payout desk in second place for $77,875.

Hennigan Takes Player of the Series Lead 

Event #2 in the third edition of PGT Mixed Games drew 89 entrants, topping the field from event one by two entrants to create a prize pool of $445,000 but still only paid the top 13 finishers. 

Falling just shy of the final table but picking up their first cash of the series were Patrick Moulder (7th), Allen Kessler (9th), Yehuda Buchalter (10th), Andres Korn (12th), and Alex Livingston (13th). 

Aaron Kupin (8th) and Andrew Kelsall (11th) each picked up their second cashes of the series, but only Kelsall cracked the top ten and now sits in seventh place with 52 points. Kupin has yet to appear at a final table but does sit in eleventh place with 29 points, one point behind Daniel Negreanu for tenth. 

"Johhny World" takes the outright lead in the race for the player of the series with the win and now sits three points ahead of Event #1 champion Maksim Psarenko with 120 points.
