Yuan Li Wins First WSOP Bracelet in $2K No-Limit Hold'em

Yuan Li has triumphed in Event #37: $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) to win the seventh WSOP bracelet for China. Li topped the 1,962-entrant field to win $524,777 in prize money and his first WSOP bracelet.

The final day of Event #37 would see 28 players return to firstly play down to the final table that would be livestreamed exclusively on PokerGO.com before another WSOP bracelet would be awarded from the Horseshoe Las Vegas. Eliminations occurred at a steady rate as Boris Kolev, Uri Reichenstein, Ludovic Geilich, Ankush Mandavia, Antonie Saout, and Marc Macdonnell all were eliminated before the final table was set.

Once down to the final eight players, a short dinner break was taken before action would be streamed on PokerGO, with Jeremy Joseph holding the overwhelming chip lead. Frank Weigel was the first to fall when his ace-deuce failed to improve against Pavels Spirins pocket tens before Yuriy Boyko exited next when he shoved with ace-king and was looked up by Mark Seif's ace-nine. Four hearts rolled off on the board, and Seif made a flush to trim the field down to seven. James Kraetz would be eliminated in seventh place after moving all-in with king-nine suited as Patrick Truong called with pocket jacks. The board bricked out and Event #37 was down to the final six players.

Seif's quest to win his third WSOP bracelet would fall short when he committed all-in with top pair but ran into the overpair of Joseph. No additional help fell for Seif, and he settled for sixth place. One-time chip leader Truong woke up with ace-king and three-bet Li. Li responded by shoving all-in and Truong called all-in but was up against the pocket aces of Li which held up to leave just four players. Joseph was dealt pocket queens and opened with a raise as Li called in the big blind with two spades. Li flopped a straight flush draw and all the chips entered the pot with Li's flush coming in on the river to eliminate Joseph in third.

Spirins would be the next to fall when he was all-in with ace-ten against the ace-jack of Jonathan Camara. The board ran out nine-high, and Spirins was eliminated in third place to leave Li holding a slender lead over Camara to begin heads-up play. Camara chipped up and moved into the lead before Li began to fight back. With chip stacks nearly even, Li scored a massive double with pocket jacks against Camara's pocket eights. Li flopped a set and turned a full house, and Camara was down to a single chip. Camara would fall the following hand, and Li would be crowned the Event #37 champion and recipient of the $524,777 first-place prize and WSOP bracelet.
