Satellite Success: Jarrett Mullins Turns Online Scramble into $37,500 Payday in WSOP Main Event

Just over a week ago, Jarrett Mullins flew into Vegas ready for his first World Series of Poker Main Event. The action was set to kick off on Monday, and he jumped in a $215 satellite scramble on Sunday at WSOP.com. The event featured 1,300 entries and had 41 seats up for grabs. Mullins, 31, figured he’d give it a shot, knowing he would buy into the Main Event win or lose.

Playing the satellite proved to be a wise decision as Mullins was among those grabbing a seat. He’s since turned that into a Day 4 appearance before being eliminated late in the day in 454th place. That brought a payment of $37,500, quite a nice return on investment for this player from Yadkinville, North Carolina.

Mullins is a regular on east coast poker tour stops, especially Harrah's Cherokee in North Carolina, where he won his second WSOP Circuit ring In November for $23,308. The latest score now has his live tournament winnings at more than $350,000.

A part-time poker player, part-time logistics employee, Mullins is a married father of two. His kids keep him busy when not playing cards or working. Mullins began playing poker with friends and his father when he was 14 but started taking the game more seriously about five years ago.

On Day 2, Mullins saw a big hand that held up and helped propel him further up the chip stacks. He got all his chips in with pocket Kings and received a call from a player with pocket Queens. His run in the Main Event may be over, but he certainly made it count.
