LAS VEGAS, NV (April 26, 2022) — The High Stakes Duel stakes are doubling once again, as the competition moves into uncharted waters. On Thursday, May 12, 2022, Phil Hellmuth and Tom Dwan return to the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas to battle for $800,000. It is the first time High Stakes Duel will be played at such stakes.

The full match will be broadcast exclusively on PokerGO.com on Thursday, May 12, at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT). New PokerGO subscribers can receive $20 off an annual PokerGO.com subscription by using the code “HSD3R4” at sign-up. The first hour of the match will be available for free on the PokerGO YouTube channel.

Hellmuth and Dwan have had an epic back-and-forth during High Stakes Duel III. After Hellmuth won seven straight High Stakes Duel matches, winning $750,000 in the process, Dwan stepped into the ring for High Stakes Duel III Round 2 and delivered Hellmuth his first loss of the competition, while simultaneously winning $100,000 from Hellmuth. Hellmuth exercised his option to a rematch with Dwan at double the stakes of $200,000 apiece and was able to exact revenge with a victory. Dwan then exercised his option to a rematch with Hellmuth, bringing us to High Stakes Duel III Round 4 when the two will battle for $400,000 each.

Per the rules of PokerGO’s High Stakes Duel, the stakes double with each round with the ultimate potential of an eighth round being played for $12,800,000 in prize money. A player can walk away victorious if they win three consecutive matches before Round 4 or two consecutive matches starting with Round 4.

The High Stakes Duel rules mean that no matter who wins between Hellmuth and Dwan in High Stakes Duel III Round 4, there will be a High Stakes Duel III Round 5 when each competitor puts up $800,000 and the two play for $1,600,000. The loser of this next match has first right to a rematch, but if they decline, a new player will be invited to step into the ring at those stakes. Both Hellmuth and Dwan would need to win two consecutive matches starting with High Stakes Duel III Round 4 in order to be eligible to walk away.

Ali Nejad will lead the High Stakes Duel III Round 4 commentary team. On Wednesday, May 11, PokerGO will host a special High Stakes Duel Hype Show. Leading into the match on Thursday, May 12, will be the official High Stakes Duel Weigh-In.

Round 4 of High Stakes Duel III between Hellmuth and Dwan airs on PokerGO.com on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT). New subscribers can receive $20 off an annual PokerGO.com subscription by using the code “HSD3R4” at sign-up. The first hour of the match will be available for free on PokerGO’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/PokerGO.
