Jonathan Little Wins $25K Finale to be Crowned 2024 PokerGO Cup Champion

Jonathan Little won his first PGT title earlier this week in Event #3 of the 2024 PokerGO Cup, and after tasting that success, he ran it back in the finale to win Event #8: $25,200 No-Limit Hold'em for $453,750. Little's two PokerGO Cup victories and two additional cashes throughout the series would thrust him to the top of the PokerGO Cup leaderboard, where he was crowned the 2024 PokerGO Cup champion.

According to The Hendon Mob, Little has amassed over $8,880,000 in live tournament earnings in a career that includes two WPT titles and now two PGT titles. With six PGT cashes to start the year, Little has already amassed nearly $800,000 in live tournament earnings in the first 34 days of 2024. This hot start to the year can only be topped by two years in Little's 19-year poker career, where in 2008, he won $1,393,416, and in 2007, he won $2,523,076.

The finale of the PokerGO Cup would see the biggest storyline being the possibility of David Peters being dethroned as the current leader on the PokerGO Cup leaderboard. Only Little, Justin Zaki, and Seth Davies were drawing live to take the top spot off Peters, and those three players would all need to win Event #8 to be crowned the PokerGO Cup champion.

The final day of Event #8 would see just six players remaining from the 55-entrant field as John Riordan held the chip lead. Unfortunately for Riorda, his place on top would be short-lived as Zaki took the early chip lead once Shaneil Stokes was eliminated in sixth place after losing a race holding pocket sixes against the ace-queen of Zaki. Davies was the next to fall in fifth place to leave an intense four-handed battle. Little was once the shortest stack, but he began his ascent up the chip counts and eventually took the chip lead when he rivered Zaki.

Little applied relentless pressure on the remaining players before Riordan was all-in with ace-jack against the ace-queen of Zaki. No help came for Riordan, and he exited in fourth before Justin Saliba fell a few hands later in third place running into the pocket aces of Zaki with ace-three. Little entered heads-up play with Zaki holding a chip lead of 4.8 million to 3.3 million, but immediately went about extending his lead and pushed it out to a three-to-one advantage before the final hand. Little shoved the button with his suited ace-three, and Zaki called all-in with his suited king-seven. Both players flopped a pair, but no improvement came for Zaki, and he was eliminated in second place as Little was simultaneously crowned the Event #8 and PokerGO Cup champion, winning $453,750 in prize money and the $25,000 PGT Passport.

Jonathan Little Crowned 2024 PokerGO Cup Champion

The 2024 PokerGO Cup was the fourth installment of the series, and Jonathan Little will join Cary Katz (2023), Jeremy Ausmus (2022), and Daniel Negreanu (2021) as PokerGO Cup champions. Along with Little's two PGT gold cups for winning Event #3 and Event #8, he will also take home the PokerGO Cup and the $25,000 PGT Passport.

David Coleman Leads PGT Leaderboard

David Coleman continued his strong start to the year at PGT Kickoff with a victory during the PokerGO Cup and an additional cash to extend his lead on top of the PGT leaderboard with 937 PGT points. Trailing Coleman is Kristen Foxen, who has 666 PGT points after she cashed two times during the PokerGO Cup.

Little's crowning of the PokerGO Cup champion saw him leap up to third overall with 549 PGT points, while Dylan Weisman earned his second PGT title of the year during the PokerGO Cup to sit in fourth. David Peters parlayed his two PokerGO Cup wins into fifth on the PGT leaderboard with 457 PGT points, while PGT regulars Aram Zobian, Justin Zaki, Stephen Chidwick, Seth Davies, and Daniel Negreanu.
