David Peters Leads 2023 PokerGO Cup Event #1 Final Table

The 2023 PokerGO Cup kicked off with Event #1: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em at the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and only seven players remain out of the 90 entrants who flocked to the felt.

David Peters holds the chip lead with a stack of 3,865,000, good for over one-third of the chips in play. Alex Foxen (2,010,000), Orpen Kisacikoglu (1,755,000), and Adrian Mateos (1,390,000) bagged the next top stacks, while Anthony Hu (960,000), Joseph Cheong (915,000), and Sean Winter (360,000) round out the shorter stacks returning to the final day.

The 90-entrant field created a prize pool of $900,000, and the top 13 finishers earned a piece of it. Nick Petrangelo was eliminated on the money bubble shortly after Foxen left him with crumbs. The chips went in on the turn when Petrangelo made the nuts with a straight, but Foxen's flopped set became a boat on the river to vault him up the leaderboard and seal Petrangelo's fate.

Dylan Linde (13th), 2021 PokerGO Cup champion Daniel Negreanu (12th), Martin Stausholm (11th), Cary Katz (10th), and Dorian Pavon (9th) all made it into the money and onto the PGT Leaderboard to start off the year, but fell short of the unofficial final table.

Eight players converged on a single table with Peters as the leader. Peters lost some chips in a race against Cheong, but quickly gained them back when he picked up jacks versus eights to eliminate Justin Young in eighth place. The plan was to play down to six players or until 1 a.m., and after a full day of play, seven players still remained and they bagged to return for the streamed final table.

The remaining players have each locked up $45,000, but all eyes will be on the $216,000 first-place prize and trophy which come with the title of Event #1 champion. The eventual winner will also take an early lead in the series points race to be crowned PokerGO Cup champion which will include a $50,000 championship bonus.

When play resumes, the button will be on Anthony Hu and there will be 12:39 remaining in Level 16 with blinds at 25,000 / 50,000 and a 50,000 big blind ante.

Play will resume at 12 p.m. PT on Thursday, January 12, and the final table will be streamed on delay starting at 1 p.m. PT on PokerGO.com.
