Yunkyu Song Leads Final 15 Players of Texas Poker Open $3,300 Main Event

The Texas Poker Open continued at Champions Club in Houston, Texas with the penultimate day of the $3,300 Main Event.

Yunkyu Song bagged a massive stack with 11,050,000 in chips to lead the 15 remaining players. Song holds over 25% of the chips in play and has over twice the amount as the next closest player.

Miguel Use (4,750,000), Tyler Brown (4,250,000), Daniel Moran (3,800,000), Jonathan Tamayo (2,775,000), Jeremy Ausmus (2,700,000), DJ Alexander (2,400,000), Bob Shao (2,150,000), Shaun Deeb (1,975,000), Brent Hanks (1,875,000), Ren Lin (1,650,000), Ryan Riess (1,650,000), Daniel Holmes (1,350,000), David Mzareulov (1,100,000) and Spencer Champlin (650,000) round out the players who will return for the final day at 12:30 p.m. CT.

The Texas Poker Open Main Event attracted 735 entrants across seven starting flights to create a prize pool of $2,205,000. Each remaining player has locked up $27,000, but all eyes remain on the $400,000 first-place prize, 400 PGT points, and Texas Poker Open belt buckle trophy.

Day 2 saw 86 players return in the money and the eliminations started quickly with players such as Matthew Wantman (85th), Jeff Platt (75th), Upeshka De Silva (73rd), Jim Collopy (65th), Joey Weissman (57th), Aram Zobian (56th), Josh Arieh (55th), Eric Baldwin (52nd), Cary Katz (48th), Michael Wang (47th), Erik Seidel (44th), Andrew Lichtenberger (33rd), and David Coleman (27th) falling before the three table redraw.

Song started the day around the middle of the pack with 595,000 in chips and quickly shot up towards the top of the leaderboard. He steadily increased his stack throughout the day and eliminated Victoria Livschitz when he rivered a flush to defeat Livschitz's pocket kings. Later, he would eliminate Jeremy Becker in 21st place when Becker picked up ace-king but ran right into Song's aces. Song would go on to eliminate Harry Cullen in 19th place and Isaac Kempton in 16th place on his way to the end-of-day chip lead.
