Event #7 $50,000 Short Deck
The final table in Event #7 $50,000 Short Deck is set, after a robust turnout for the last tournament in this format at the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Super High Roller Series here in Sochi. A total of 55 entries generated a prize pool of $2,675,150, which started to be awarded last night with the eliminations of Thai Ha (8th for $107,000) and Dmitriy Kuzmin (7th for $133,760).
The remaining six players, led by Michael Soyza, will be playing for the trophy and $856,050 first prize – and what a line-up it is. Phil Ivey lies second in chips, having narrowly missed taking down Event #5 this week (another $50,000 Short Deck), settling for second place (and $525,000) as Wai Kin Yong stormed to the title in a late-stage surge. Sergei Reixach and Lee Wai Kiat lurk just behind him, with Sam Greenwood and Seth Davies rounding out the considerable spread of talent on this final table.
Michael Soyza took his outdraw on the bubble of yesterday’s Event #6 $100,000 No Limit Hold’em with good grace and fortune has reversed its trend in the penultimate event of the Series in Russia. In fact, Soyza eliminated Stephen Chidwick on the bubble of this event and the Malaysian pro stands in good stead to add considerably to his $7.5 million in live tournament winnings – incredibly, a comparatively modest history given the extraordinary results of his tablemates, heavy hitters on the all-time money list.
Line-up in seat order:
|5||Lee Wai Kiat||2,540,000||212|
