Poker Masters Event #2 Day 1 Recap
The journey to the final table of this event started on September 9th at the PokerGO Studio with 50 entries to create a prize pool worth $1,250,000 and $400,000 up top for the winner. World Series of Poker Main Event finalist Michael Dyer finished on the bubble when he couldn’t win a coin flip with ace-queen versus the pocket tens of Jared Jaffee.
The remaining eight players were guaranteed $50,000 and Car Katz was the first to collect. Katz ran ace-king into the tens of Daniel Negreanu, and after the flop brought a kick, it was a ten on the river that ended his tournament.
The final seven were moved to the final table where Jared Jaffee held an enormous chip lead. Jaffee had more chips than the next three players combined to start, and he continued to chip-up on the bubble for the official final table. Ultimately, Jaffee’s aggressive play resulted in him doubling up Brandon Adams with eights versus aces to draw the field closer together.
Dominik Nitsche bubbled the final table, busting in seventh place for $62,500. Jason Koon held ace-jack of hearts versus the ace-nine of diamonds of Nitsche. The board brought blanks and the night ended with the following chip counts.
