The 2018 Super High Roller Bowl is two weeks away, but before we look ahead, we have to look back. The second Super High Roller Bowl ran in 2016 and featured a $300,000 buy-in. 49 players built up a $15 million prize pool and some of the world’s best competed. Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari, and defending champion Brian Rast may have stolen the headlines at the start, but Rainer Kempe ended in the winner’s circle.

Kempe bested a stacked final table that included Erik Seidel, Phil Hellmuth, Matt Berkey, Bryn Kenney, and Dan Shak. He then defeated countryman Fedor Holz heads up for the 2016 Super High Roller Bowl title and $5 million.
