For the past few days the country watched Houston and the surrounding area get hit hard by Hurricane Harvey.  The poker community’s charitable efforts for relief are rising with poker’s deep ties to Texas. RunGood Gear – a poker clothing company and tournament series – is aiding in relief by donating 100% of sales for the next seven days to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund with the promo code “Houston” with free shipping.

RunGood Gear president Tana Karn said, “After talking to Ray and following what has been happening it was a no brainer in starting something to help out. Even though our efforts will just be a drop in the bucket my hope is to encourage others to look into how they can help.”

“When we held our RGPS Championship in New Orleans we had a huge amount of the Houston poker community come out to support,” Karn continued. “I always try to get know to know folks that make it out and have seen through private messages or social media what that city is going through.”

The company just came off a successful RunGood Poker Series event in Tunica where 582 entrants played in the Main Event for the inaugural event in Mississippi. David Troutman defeated Kyle Cartwright heads-up to win the title, two tickets to RGPS Global Championship Cruise and $58,797.

Three more RGPS remain – Horseshoe Council Bluffs on October 24, Hard Rock Tulsa on November 1 and Harrah’s North Kansas City December 1 – all qualifying players for the cruise on May 13 – 20, 2018.

RunGood Gear is based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, almost 500 miles from Houston, but has several sponsored pros from Texas in Ross Bybee, Mina Greco, Ray Henson, Jonathan Gaviao and Ben Reason.

Henson is from Houston and although his residence hasn’t been effected, he aided in rescue efforts Tuesday. He posted a video footage from a boat on his Facebook page helping the community and handing out supplies.

Karn relayed that Henson and Greco are safe. “I haven’t spoken to Mina personally but I’ve been getting updates from Ray daily,” Karn said. “He decided to stay due to family reasons but has been doing what he can to help others. He’s been on a boat handing out supplies to the community.”
