The World Poker Tour traveled to Montreal this week for the first of two events at Playground Poker Club in Season XVI. The third final table to air on PokerGO took place today with Maxime Heroux walking away on top of a field of 606 entrants to win his first WPT event and CAD $403,570.

Heroux faced tough competition at the final table with WPT Champions Club member Eric Afriat making it to the final six along with high roller extraordinaire David Peters.

Peters battled in Poker Masters and Super High Roller Bowl in 2017 but came up shy of taking home his first WPT title, bowing out in sixth place. Afriat went out just after, earning fifth place in his fourth career WPT final table. Arizona pro Derek Wolters eliminated Afriat and boosted his championship prospects in the process.

On the call for the final table was Dave Farra and 2016 November Niner Griffin Benger, who made his first booth appearance on PokerGO.

For Heroux, the win is his first in a major event after a few deep runs in WPT events in Canada earlier in the year. Heroux made the money in the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic and WPT Montreal in Season XV.

Making the win even more special for Heroux was winning in his hometown. Heroux hails from Montreal and had a vocal rail supporting him throughout the final table.

Local pub owner Pat Quinn came into the final table as the chip leader and fell to Heroux in second place. Wolters wound up placing third and Brendan Baksh exited the final table stage in fourth.

Heads up play between Quinn and Heroux lasted 14 hands as Heroux extended his chip lead gradually before eventually finishing off Quinn.

Next up on PokerGO is “Leave it to Seiver” week on Poker After Dark. Scott Seiver is the focal point of the game with Garrett Adelstein and Chris Kruk among the new faces in the line up.

Stay tuned to PokerCentral and PokerGO for announcements regarding the next live streamed World Poker Tour final table.
