Mixed games made their debut, but some big names made Poker After Dark returns that headlined Tuesday’s “Godfather” week opener. The biggest was obviously Doyle Brunson and the Hall of Famer was joined by Gus Hansen, Brian Rast, and Scott Seiver. Those Bobby’s Room regulars drove the action and Seiver ended as Day 1’s biggest winner.

It didn’t seem to matter what game the “Godfather” week lineup was playing, no one could stop Scott Seiver. Whether it was chopping against quads or getting there on the end, Seiver solved every variant and ended up booking nearly $200,000 worth of profit. One of his biggest hands of the night benefited Seiver, while Jared Bleznick was left nearly speechless after a brutal Stud Hi/Lo 8 or Better runout.

While Bleznick ended the night breathless, Gus Hansen opened the night huffing and puffing. After getting sticky in Limit Hold’em, Hansen flopped trips against Brian Rast’s kings and seemed destined for a huge pot. Instead, Rast turned a full house and stole one from “The Great Dane.” When it was all said and done, Hansen was close to a $100,000 loser, while Rast booked a modest win.

Many of the same characters return Wednesday, when “Godfather” week concludes. Daniel Cates will make his Poker After Dark return and join the lineup, but even though “Jungleman” should bring some entertainment, all eyes should remain on “Tex Dolly.”
